TripBuilder is not only committed to providing you with a memorable and inspiring trip, we are also committed to using local suppliers and services, as well as focusing on our philanthropy projects to support local communities so, when you travel with us, you help and better the lives of the Myanmarese.
The foundation of our approach is called TripBuilder Cares, and its core missions are: to support and develop educational projects targeted to unprivileged Burmese kids, to support local communities and better the lives of the locals, to encourage people to protect and preserve Myanmar’s natural and archeological sites, and to educate the Myanmarese that its country’s natural resources are irreplaceable and its value is priceless.
TripBuilder believes in leaving a lasting footprint in the country and is particularly honored to partner with Agape Orphanage Children’s Home in Pyin Oo Lwin. We have delivered the first batch of educational games and toys in March 2016 and are working on next projects which will grant quality education to the children, develop their mental capabilities and expand their knowledge to equip them to be able to stand on their own feet when they reach adulthood.
Agape Orphanage Children’s Home was established in 2000 by Pastor Richard Khum. Currently, the orphanage is a home to 63 orphans aged 5 to 17 from different ethnic backgrounds. The orphanage is well managed but its campus is small and the children live in 4 rooms that housed an average 15 children each. Despite the difficult living conditions, the children still manage to achieve better than average grades and are considered by their teachers to be motivated and disciplined. Richard tries his best to develop and grow the children’s learning capabilities to help them secure good jobs in the future and support their future families and communities. We found Richard a straight, honest and forward-looking person, who personally sacrifices a lot to run the orphanage and support the children.
TripBuilder is honored to partner with a well-managed but poorly-equipped Agape Orphanage Children’s Home, and is looking for ways to support it. We believe we can do our best by investing in children education to support them to be independent and to be able to provide for themselves and their families in the future. The orphanage has many needs in regards to education, especially the need to get at least 5 sets of computers to teach the kids basic computer skills and to hire an English language teacher who would provide the kids with a few hours of English classes every week. Such skills are the most needed investments to support and prepare the kids to either continuing their education in high school or to securing prospective jobs in the future.
Aside from educational needs, Agape Orphanage Children’s Home struggles to expand its small campus and dreams of buying an additional land and expanding its current buildings to improve the poor living conditions of the kids. Currently, the orphanage is located on the 180 feet long and 80 feet wide land and the campus is too small to house so many kids. It causes various problems like spreading diseases among the kids easily, especially during the rainy season, and having no proper conditions to learn and develop. A neighboring piece of land is up for sale for USD 41,000 and the orphanage is looking for ways to acquire the land and build a new set of two-stories buildings.
